It’s time to turn the spotlight on this summers biggest flops of the season so far, so here we go with the top 10 contenders.
1. Mario Balotelli
Not only has the Italian caused trouble for the club on the field but it seems that his requirement to be hugged and cared for by Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is wearing thin for his team mates, creating even more tension where a knife edge is thought to be comfortable.
Balotelli was pictured having dinner with AC Milan reps and has openly admitted that he would love to play for the Italian side but don’t worry, he also pointed out that he was committed until June…
2. Jermaine Beckford
Bought from Leeds on a Free while he was showcasing his strength and goal scoring talent, Everton thought that they had bagged themselves a great signing… Shame that all they got was a striker who can’t hit a barn door at the moment.
3. Joe Cole
A great signing on a free transfer from Chelsea but so far the midfielder has been unable to show the form that he used to portray at Chelsea. He has struggled with injury since the beginning of the season but it trying to battle back to strength while the club are looking to turn around their worst start to a Premier League season in their history.
4. Sandro
Brought into Tottenham from Internacional in Brazil on the recommendation of scouts, Sandro signed for the London based club for 10 million euros. So far this season he has failed to impress and that’s even if he has been added into the squad. Yet another player who had promise outside of the Premier League but flopped like a beached whale in it.
5. Lars Jacobsen
Although West Ham didn’t have to pay anything for the defender, you have to look at the defensive record so far this season and you can see exactly why the former Blackburn Rovers player has been added to the list.
Blackburn failed to play him for some reason, seems that we can see that now.
6. Hatem Ben Arfa
A signing brought into Newcastle for what seemed to be a great price for a very exciting player but through no fault of his own, he has to be included onto the list following a horror tackle by Man City midfielder Nigel De Jong left the player with a double leg fracture.
7. Bebe
Possibly one of the strangest transfers this year, signed by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson even though he had never watched the player compete in a game of football. Going on the word of his scout, Ferguson spent 8.8 million euros on the Portuguese forward which could be a very expensive mistake if it doesn’t work out.
8. Christian Poulsen
Signing from Italian side Juventus, the midfielder looked to have everything that would be needed to make a successful transfer into the Premier League but just like so many others who have been and gone from the top league in English football, he has been unable to make a mark on the side and so has come under fire by a large percentage of the clubs fans.
9. David Silva
Another feign import this summer that has been brought in on a hefty transfer fee by Manchester City from Valencia but so far the attacker/winger has failed to be a shadow of his former self and so questions are being asked over his future at the club already.
32 million euros for a player to offer so little in return for your investment, you have to realise that you are going to lose a vast amount of that investment within the first year Roberto?
10. Stephen Ireland
Included in the deal that saw James Milner heading to Manchester City, Ireland will not have been too pleased to be told that he was surplus to requirements, whether the player has hit a stint of depression or if touting for a move away from Villa in January could help to explain why Ireland has offered very little to his current club.

Runners up:  Ramires, Pablo Barrera , Winston Reid
