With the British transfer fee record smashed by the purchase of Liverpool striker Fernando Torres by Chelsea on Monday, it seems that the football community were questioning the true value of the purchase.

Well figures today reveal that there is more to the deal than simply getting a proven goal scorer and World Cup winner.

Recent figures revealed that ‘Torres 9’ was the most sold football shirt printing in the world and with Chelsea splashing the cash to bring the striker into their ranks, it seems that they have identified a huge financial addition, the sale of their own shirts with ‘Torres 9’ on the back.

The Mirror newspaper have revealed that following the striker’s move to Chelsea, shirt sales at the club that feature the Spanish international’s name on, are out selling that of any other purchase within the transfer window.

The stats show that Chelsea are selling 250 shirts that feature the players name and number for every one shirt that Liverpool are selling featuring their recent signing Andy Carroll.

Liverpool bought two strikers within the transfer window this winter and their other, Luis Suarez, is performing better in terms of shirt sales than Andy Carroll, selling one shirt to every 30 Torres shirts sold

You never know Chelsea might bag the Torres Transfer Fee In Shirt Sales Alone!
