Iniesta sent Spain into World Cup glory for the first time in their history with the only goal of the game deep into extra-time in a 1-0 win over Holland. The match watched by an estimated 700 million more on television around the world largely failed to live up to its billing and was hit with the most yellow cards ever  and one red.The game had chances for both teams to win it with both robben and Fabregas almost scoring if it was not for the keepers

Iniesta drilled home across goal with Fabregas playing the telling pass but the Dutch were fuming after referee Howard Webb had failed to award their side a corner moments earlier when a free-kick took deflection off Cesc Fabregas.Spain become the first team to win a World Cup after losing their opening game of the tournament.
