gallas-fa-cup-winner William Gallas’s controversial header sent Arsenal into the FA Cup semis.

Nick Barmby had put Hull ahead with a deflected volley (13), and Geovanni saw a free-kick tipped over but Robin Van Persie hit the bar and had a header blocked on the line as Arsenal fought.

The Dutchman’s composed finish drew the Gunners level (74) and Gallas, who was in an offside position when the ball was played in, headed home (84).

Brown in spitting claim

Hull manager Phil Brown accused Cesc Fabregas of spitting at Brian Horton after Arsenal won their FA Cup clash.

Tensions ran high as the Gunners came from a goal down to win 2-1 courtesy of William Gallas’s controversial goal.

Brown told Setanta: “You know you’re not going to get the rub of the green when you come to places like this but for Fabregas to spit at my assistant tells you what this club’s about.”

Wenger in dark over claim

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insisted he had not seen club captain Cesc Fabregas spit at Hull assistant coach Brian Horton following the 2-1 victory.

Tigers manager Phil Brown made the accusation following the heated FA Cup sixth-round tie, which was settled by William Gallas’s controversial strike.

Asked about the alleged incident, Wenger told Setanta: “It’s completely new to me. I don’t know about that.
