High-flying Aston Villa were frustrated by a stubborn Wigan defence.
Gabriel Agbonlahor’s header was tipped over and ex-Latic Emile Heskey failed to beat Chris Kirkland, while Brad Friedel’s superb fingertip save denied Maynor Figueroa at the other end.
Zat Knight’s downward header clipped the post as Villa dominated after the break, and they somehow failed to find the net after a goalline scramble.
