Gareth Barry saved a point for Villa from the penalty spot today as both sides lost precious ground on the top four.
Martin O’Neill’s men twice hit back from a two-goal margin, with captain Gareth Barry securing a point with an emphatic penalty midway through the second half.Everton were two goals up by the midway point of the first half Marouane Fellaini tapped the visitors ahead from a Leighton Baines cross and Tim Cahill bundled in a second after his header hit the bar, before John Carew pulled one back .
Steve Pienaar rifled in for Everton , but James Milner’s free-kick and Barry’s penalty tied it up.Villa needed all the points but they will take the one its till tight at the top.
