guus-hiddink Business as usual chelsea get there first win under Guus Hiddink earned a winning start as Chelsea manager thanks to Nicolas Anelka’s 21st goal of the season.Anelka got the only goal with a lovely move in the first half, Anelkas cool chip coming after superb work from Frank Lampard.Villa did battle to get back into it gareth Barry’s stinging shot was palmed away by Petr Cech as Villa continued to battle in search of an equaliser.
Martin O’Neill shuffled his pack by introducing a second targetman in John Carew, allowing the impressive Ashley Young space to threaten down the left.Young struck the bar with a free-kick for Villa in the first half, but Chelsea survived to seal the win

Substitute Deco showed sublime skill to set up Michael Ballack in stoppage time, but Friedel was equal to the task and turned his rising drive over the top. Villa were unable to mount a response and the importance of Chelsea’s victory was emphasised by the celebrations at the final whistle
