barcalona-4-bayern-0 Barcelona  blew away Bayern  tonight 4-0 in there home tie .Barca too fast for Bayern and took them to the races with messi eto and henry all on fire.

It was a wonder  first-half showing by the home team. From the first moments Bayern could not get the ball off an energised Barca, with the ball going through talismanic right-sided attacker Messi almost every minute.Messi gave Barcelona the lead after just nine minutes. He was left unmarked at the far post after good build up play on the right and easily tapped home Samuel Eto’o’s cross.

The Argentinean then returned the favour three minutes later, dancing past left-back Martin Lell for Eto’o to score in the bottom corner.
Barca then felt they should have had a penalty when Lell, who was being terrorised by Messi, brought down the forward. However, English referee Howard Webb adjudged there had been no contact made and booked Messi for diving. That led to a sustained protest from Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola which resulted in Webb sending him to the stands.
Despite this Barca kept the pressure up and scored their third of the game after Thierry Henry blazed a trail past Massimo Oddo on the left wing.
The Frenchman got to the by-line and squared it to Messi who tapped home his second of the match.

Barca’s fourth came just before half-time; Messi once more was looking dangerous but his threat was snuffed out by Mark van Bommel’s shoulder charge.

The referee chose to play advantage and Barca made sure they took their chance. Eto’o pounced on the loose ball and crossed for Henry to slot home his 50th goal in the Champions League.

Bayern improved after the break, showing some much-needed resolve in the middle of the park. With 20 minutes to go in the match the visitors created their first chance of the game but Ze Roberto was denied by a desperate block by Carlos Puyol.Bayern have it all to do in germany but like liverpool nothing but a miracle with turn this around.Rafa Marquez forced a booking late on and will miss the return leg in Munich, but Barcelona should now progress to the semi-finals for the second year running to face either Liverpool or Chelsea.

Thierry Henry delivered a devastating accidental  two-footed tackle to Bayern keeper Jorg Butt’s face ouch! he was ok in the end.

Quote of the day: “For sure he [Franck Ribery] will stay with us next year. I cannot tell you more about this other than that I told him ‘you are an exceptional player and you will define the year 2009.’” – Jurgen Klinsmann
