Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce enjoyed a satisfying victory over the side that controversially sacked him last season.Second-half goals from strikers Benni McCarthy and Jason Roberts hand Blackburn victory over Newcastle which moves them out of the bottom three

Benni McCarthy put Rovers ahead from the penalty spot for his eighth goal of the season and striker Jason Roberts marked his 400th Premier League game with a decisive second .

Nicky Butt was sent off for a second booking and Roberts completed their misery with a third goal .

To round off a miserable day for the Magpies, team-mates Joey Barton and Jose Enrique had to be separated from squaring up to each other by Sebastian Bassong following Roberts’ second strike.

All of which will be of no concern to Allardyce, whose men are now unbeaten in five games and out of the relegation zone
