brazil 1982 goals Brazils Best Ever World Cup Team The Magic of 1982 It was hard to believe Brazil did not win the world cup back in 1982 but without any question they had the most skillful team ever seen in the game to that date.

The team of 1982 appears in most online surveys as one of the best Brazilian teams of all time with near rival’s of the 1970 team i would day, but this team had the lot talented players and a great offensive coach.

Zico was on fire at the time scoring magic goals for fun then you had Falcao that led his team and became known as “King of Rome”, for having led the Roma in  Italy to the scudetto. Socrates, a physician with name of philosopher, combined talent and intelligence and what a playmaker he was.

Toninho Cerezzo, besides skillful, was said to have an extra pair of lungs could cover the whole pitch and never get tired.

Falcão, Zico and Sócrates appeared in the list of 10 best players of the 1982 Cup.

The team had still the powerful shots of left-forward Éder, the abilities of Júnior again other powerhouse in midfield with great feet and always took his game to the next level

In the end it took one man to stop brazil one Paulo Rossi In a memorable game where Brazil only needed a draw to reach the semifinal, Rossi scored a magnificent hat-trick, and Italy won 3-2.

Brazil’s team of 1982 to me has to be best ever and you have to agree with me when your see the video below, the magic delighted many viewers and fans that year as Brazil showed some of the best attacking football ever seen.

So sit back and enjoy this one, even compared to the modern game today its still great to watch

Good Luck in 2014

  • carlos

    my favorite is brazil 2002
but without a doubt the team with the most talent was brazil 2006

  • sam

Blah blah blah, Brazil, blah blah blah.
They got their asses kicked. Lousy defensively, and when it really counted, they ended up on
the losing side of that 3-2 score.
How about that 1982 Italy team that took out not only Brazil, but a Maradona lead Argentina, a powerful Poland, and then took out yet another great West German team.
Great teams find ways to win; they don't find ways to lose. Brazil was and still is an incredibly overrated soccer nation!

    • Brazilian

are you crazy or what? overrated soccer nation? you need learn about respect! and learn about numbers, history too

Brazil have tradition, we have 5 stars in our chest… RESPECT

    • Paradise Lost

I AM FROM MOROCCO , I WAS 12 YEARS OLD WHEN BRAZIL LOST TO ITALY 1982 .. I CRIED THAT DAY..IT WAS SAD SAD SAD .. AND THE WORLD CUP ENDED THAT DAYS FOR ALL OF US IN MOROCCO …
BRAZIL 1982 . IS THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD CUP HISTORY .. THAT TEAM WAS LEGENDARY … THE WHOLE WORLD CONSIDERED BRAZIL 1982 THE REAL WORLD CHAMPION … EVEN THOUGH ITALY WON THE CUP ..THE FIFA STILL RAMKED BRAZIL 1982 NUMBER 1 IN THE WORLD BACK THAN ..

I MISSED THAT TEAM .. THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD CUP HISTORY EVER .

  • David

The Brazil team of 1982 is described as the best team they have ever had, but i tend to disagree, the best for me was the one in 1994, it was simply unstoppable, there moves were flawless, everyone in the team was a star, that midfield of Dunga, Mazinho, Bebeto and Leonardo was tight, with Marcel Santos and Ricardo Rocha supplementing attack from their fullback positions, what about that dead ball master named Blanco, who sent the Dutch to their grave, and that natural finisher, a pure genius they called Romario, come on guys that was da best Brazilian team ever!!!!!!!!!

  • Driss

David , no my friend there is no comparison with 1982 team .. you can ask even Pele , Romario , dunga … they all will tell the 1982 is the MAGIC … I do not know if you witness that team in 1982 Spain or no?

One thing for sure , BRAZIL 1982 IS A LEGENDARY TEAM , THE BEST TEAM IN " MONDIAL " HISTORY.

  • Mabi

Thank you for this tribute.. I was only 10 years old… It was by far the best Brazil team ever!!! Altough I am a great fan of every Brazil soccer team… Greetings from Guatemala!!!! You make me cry again, just by remember that gray day when Brazil lost to that so called Italy team, it was just unfair… Since then, I never went and never will going for that team.. sorry! jajaja

  • Joro

well i like'em but if they lost, they are not so best after all. And really, Italy beat Argentina, Brazil, West Germany. And who Brazil beat new zealand, scotland, ussr and argentina, with out the argentinians Brazil didn't beat any strong team. By the way Brazil got tradicion in football but i prefer Germany, they play strong, hard, coldblooded and win penalties!!!

If someone says brazil 1982 is not the best team , he is ǟ stupid person

  • TOM

I WAS 10 YEARS OLD WHEN I WATCHED WORLD CUP 1982 AND WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST TEAM WAS BRAZIL BY A COUNTRY MILE. DON'T FORGET THEY WERE PLAYING TOGETHER FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS BEFORE 1982 WORLD CUP AND AS INDIVIDUALS THEY WERE VERY GOOD BUT AS A TEAM THEY WERE SIMPLY THE BEST OF ALL TIME. THEY HARDLY HAD TO LIFT THEIR HEADS UP BECAUSE EACH ONE OF THEM ALWAYS KNEW WHERE THE OTHERS WERE SO FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE YOUNGER I HAVE TO SAY PERFECT PASSING GAME WAS INVENTED LONG TIME BEFORE TODAY'S BARCELONA TEAM. NEEDLESS TO SAY I CRIED FOR DAYS AFTER VERY LUCKY ITALY BEAT THEM AND FOR ALL OF US IN YUGOSLAVIA WORLD CUP ENDED THERE AND THEN. WE ALL KNOW SOMETIMES THE BEST TEAM DOESN'T ALWAYS WIN AND ITALY WAS DEFINITELY NOT THE BEST TEAM HAVING PLAYED REALLY WELL ONLY ONCE AND THAT WAS THE FINAL AGAINST GERMANY. FOR GOD SAKE THEY DREW THEIR FIRST 3 GAMES AGAINST POLAND, CAMEROON AND I BELIEVE PERU AND BELIEVE ME THEY SHOULD HAVE LOST 2 OF THEM. THEY QUALIFIED ON GOAL DIFFERENCE AND GOT LUCKY AGAINST ARGENTINA AND BRAZIL…AS THEY SAY THE REST IS HISTORY. I CAN HONESTLY SAY AND I THINK I SPEAK FOR WAST MAJORITY OF THE WORLDS POPULATION I THINK ONLY FOR INVENTING SAMBA CARNIVAL AND PERFECT FOOTBALL BRAZIL HAS TO BE IN THE TOP 3 OF THE GREATEST NATIONS IN THE WORLD. YOU HAVE GIVEN THE WORLD A LOT OF PLEASURE, UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES AND THAT TEAM OF 1982. THANK YOU BRAZIL!!!!!

  • Fred

Rossi, Antognoni, Gentile, Conti, Zoff, Cabrini, Altobelli,, Scirea, Tardelli. Bruno Conti played like a Brazilian better than any Brazilian. They were not inferior to Brazil in any way personnel wise.

  • Stefan

I`M ROMANIAN AND I WAS 12 YEARS OLD WHEN I SEE THIS NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM.AND NOW, 32 YEARS LATER, I CAN SAY THIS IS THE BEST TEAM IN THE ALL HISTORY OF THE FOOTBALL. EDER, SOCRATES, JUNIOR, ZICO &CO. WAS THE FABULOUS ART`S TEAM IN THE FOOTBALL. ALL MY CONSIDERATIONS, FROM ROMANIA!

    • EderTheGod11

If to be great you have to win the World Cup then please explain the 1994 winners (Brazil), and losers (italy – even my own beloved Republic of Ireland beat them easily). The final was probably the worst game I have ever seen – they could have been on the pitch for 10 years extra-time and still wouldn't have scored therefore showing that winning itself proves nothing. When I saw the 1982 Brazil team, I was 5 years older than Stefan from Romania (and in fact still am !) and agree with him entirely.
I remain mesmerised by this team

IN TERM OF TACTYCAL ANALYSIS , ITALY OF 82 WAS A DEFENSIVE TEAM THAT FOUND OFFENCE IN THE LEGS OF PAOLO ROSSI IN THE SECOND AND 3RD ROUND, THEY HAD A GREAT DEFENSE AND THAT HELPED THEM OVERCOME A GREAT TALENTED BRAZILIAN OFFENSE , BRAZIL OF 82 PLAYED THE MOST EXCITING ATTACKING FOOTBALL THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN.

In 1970 i was 14 yrs old and watching Brazil for the first time on tv, Gerson, Tostao, Jairzinho, Rivelinho, Clodoaldo, Carlos Alberto, and the king himself Pele, showed the world how the game must be played in the future beutifull and artfully. 12 yrs later another artful team apears on world stage who understood the message of 1970, Socrates,Cerezo,Falcao, Leandro, Junior, Eder, Oscar, Luizinho, Serginho and Zico just like Cruyff's team in 1974 after a wonderful performance they stranded. But the memory how they played the game stil echoes thru the years and now Spain with Xabi Hernandes, Andres Iniesta and Silva set forth their Legacy of the artful game and this time with the blessings of the Gods to save the beautiful game.

    Many Thanks for composing Brazil

Its a different game today, up to 1982 (for me, the high water mark of World Cup) it was "you must win", but directly because of the defeats of Brasil & France in 82 it evolved during 86 and definitely 1990 latest to
"you must not lose" – they are not the same and football fans are the losers.

Spain are, without dourt, the most talented exponents of all time of "you must not lose" – passing the ball
to each other for 30 minutes without doing anything with it, apparently entertaining

Brazil should have won the world cup in 1982. And what makes me laugh is people blame their defence. Their defence was good. No team opened them up. They just got sloppy occasionally with individual errors. The blame lies with tele santana for selecting serginho. He should have dropped him after the first game. Serginho cost brazil the cup. With another forward or even putting zico upfront and playing paulo isidoro in midfield brazil would have won. They gave the game to italy with sheer complacency. Brazil 82 were the best ten man team in history. But what a team they were. With a fit careca nobody would mention brazil 1970 because brazil 82 would have been the best of all time eithout debate.

    I’m Brazilian.
Man, I was 11 on that time. What beautiful football that team played. If I could imagine that would be the last great moment of Brazilian true football, would I have wished that time would stop there.
I am sad to see the Brazilian football nowadays. A shineless football without inspiration.
Maybe I’m getting old and boring, but I miss that 1982’s team.
My best regards from a Brazilian guy that is a lover of classic football.
