Can You Depend On Your Keeper In A Penalty Shootout?

The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy has offered many shock results in its time but when it comes to penalties, it is never easy for anyone when they have to step up to the spot, I mean just think about all the pressure and expectation on you…

Well the recent fixture between Sheffield Wednesday and Chesterfield last Wednesday offered yet another situation of a penalty shootout in order for the game to be decided and with the outfield players still offering a deadlock after all of them had stepped up to the spot, it was down to the goalkeepers to see if they can secure the victory for either side.

Questions have been asked before about if keepers are trained in taking penalties and it seems that we find our answer right here in this video.
Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Nicky Weaver heads to the spot first and shows that obviously he is training penalty taker after smashing the ball into the top of the net with a spot kick that some of the worlds leading stars would love to accredit to themselves but can Chesterfield’s Tommy Lee follow suit?
