Liverpool got a good but narrow win away from home at leeds but the home team did miss chances on the night.The only goal of the game coming from ngog after a sweet turn and great finish.See Rafa Interview here

Jermaine Beckford had gone close for the hosts on several occasions while Michael Doyle’s header was disallowed for a controversial offside decision

Arsenal 2 West Brom 0  Arsenal’s young guns made hard work of seeing off 10-man West Brom.Young striker Sanchez Watt struck the post in a first half which saw former Arsenal midfielder Jerome Thomas sent off for slapping Jack Wilshere.

Simon Cox headed over the Arsenal bar and then forced a save from Wojciech Szxzesny, Watt pounced after Carlos Vela was denied before Vela scored after Mark Randall hit the bar at the end. Highlights here 

Barnsley 3 Burnley 2

Struggling Barnsley came from behind to deservedly knockout Premier League side Burnley out of the Carling Cup.

Steven Fletcher fired the Clarets ahead , Jon Macken levelled after Iain Hume hit the post and Anderson de Silva scored in first-half injury time.

Chris Eagles then put Burnley level after great play from Fernando Guerrero  but Hugo Colace headed home the winner after a fine ball from De Silva .Highlights here

Carlisle 1 Portsmouth 3Portsmouth bounced back from an early setback to dump out Carlisle to earn their first win of the season.

Ian Harte put Carlisle ahead from the spot after Joe Anyinsah was brought down by Aaron Mokoena , Artuna Dindane levelled matters before Danny Webber headed Pompey ahead .

Anthony Vanden Borre collected a ball from Dindane for 3-1 , while Carlisle’s Richard Keogh hit the post. Highlights here

Notts Forest 0 Blackburn 1

Dexter Blackstock missed a penalty as Forest exited the Carling Cup.

The visitors enjoyed by far the better of the opening half and they were rewarded when Benni McCarthy drove home a free-kick.

Steven Reid’s handball gave Blackstock the chance to level but the striker’s tame penalty was easily saved by Jason Brown, while Nathan Tyson dragged his shot wide when well placed.Highlights here

Stoke 4 Blackpool 3

Andy Griffin’s very late stoppage time strike saw Stoke win an extraordinary tie as this one went to the very end.
Goals from David Vaughan and Billy Clarke  had put the Seasiders in control only for Danny Higginbotham to head home and Matthew Etherington to tap in an equaliser .
Ricardo Fuller stroked home to put Stoke ahead but Ben Burgess replied immediately before Griffin drilled home .Highlights here

Sunderland 2 Birmingham 0

Two early goals were enough to put Sunderland into the fourth round of the Carling Cup at Birmingham’s expense.

Jordan Henderson put the Black Cats ahead when he raced onto Kenwyne Jones’ pull-back to fire home before Fraizer Campbell headed home a second .Highlights here
Gary O’Connor twice went close to pulling one back and Giovanny Espinoza headed wide from six yards, while Jones missed a chance to extend the lead.
