Tottenham went 0-1 at halftime tonight to burnley but then stormed back in the second half with four goals to win 4-1,Harry rednapp worked his magic again.Tottenham are on course for a second successive Carling Cup final after a resounding first-leg semi-final victory over Burnley at White Hart Lane.
The Clarets had taken the lead through a Martin Paterson tap-in before Michael Dawson’s header and Jamie O’Hara’s volley put Spurs ahead.Roman Pavlyuchenko’s strike and a Michael Duff own goal left the Clarets with a mountain to climb
Harry Redknapp admitted he had some harsh words to say at half-time before his Tottenham side came from behind to claim a 4-1 victory over Burnley
Redknapp told Sky Sports: “At half-time I had to get into them big time and sort a few out really.”
So spurs march and will now take a three-goal lead to Turf Moor for the second leg could there be a comeback?you never know?

Blackburn got the win tonight as Blyth Spartans put on a brave fight against the premiership giants.Carlos Villanueva finally broke the deadlock for Rovers at Blyth’s tiny Croft Road ground, with the Chile international producing a stunning free-kick for the only goal of the game.
Nevertheless, with the exception of a nervy final 10 minutes, Sam Allardyce’s side always looked in control of the contest despite making 11 changes from the side that started their last Premier League contest.
Blue Square North side Blyth - who are 118 places below Blackburn in the league pyramid - showed plenty of guts and endeavour too though and then nearly nicked an unlikely draw five minutes from time but substitute Andrew Wright side-footed a great chance just wide

Southampton 0 Manchester United 3 Fa Cup Highlights

Manchester United set up a fourth-round FA Cup meeting with Tottenham after easing past 10-man Southampton.
Teenager Danny Welbeck headed the Red Devils in front after 20 minutes against the Saints at St. Mary’s, where Southampton midfielder Matt Paterson was ejected for an ugly foul on Nemanja Vidic in the 36th.
Facing a 10-man team that is struggling in the League Championship, United created many more chances but appeared lucky to its second goal. Nani scored from the penalty spot in the 48th minute for a handball against Southampton’s David McGoldrick. Darron Gibson added the third in the 81st after a strong run by Wayne Rooney.
United has won soccer’s oldest domestic competition a record 11 times. It also faced Tottenham, an eight-time winner, in the fourth round last season, winning 3-1.
“In the third round any year you’re always hoping you’re not shocked,” United manager Alex Ferguson said. “We always keep saying that to the players, don’t shock us, let us get into the next round.”

James Milner scored his first two goals for Aston Villa as the Premier League side overcame the stiffest of challenges from Gillingham today.James Milner celebrated his 23rd birthday with two goals as Aston Villa avoided an FA Cup upset at Priestfield.
The forward put the visitors in front by playing a neat one-two with Stiliyan Petrov before firing into the top corner from the edge of the box
Simeon Jackson levelled with a screamer but Milner sealed the win from the penalty spot after Adam Miller brought down Ashley Young
O’Neill told ITV1: “It was really tough but I knew it would be. If the players didn’t know before, they did after 10 minutes. Good luck to them (Gills).”

Liverpool got the win at preston thanks to a thunderbolt by riera and a late torres goal which was handed on a plate to him by gerrard who had a great game.A stunning Albert Riera strike and one from the returning Fernando Torres were enough to hand Liverpool victory over a brave Preston side at Deepdale.
The Reds took the lead after Riera played a swift one-two with Steven Gerrard on the right of the box before lashing into the top corner .A curled a superb left-foot shot in to the top left corner after the hosts failed to clear a Xabi Alonso free-kick.It was a spectacular goal worthy of winning any match, but Liverpool’s failure to convert the easy chances almost allowed Preston to grab an equaliser.
Sean St Ledger had an equaliser ruled out for a foul by Jon Parkin but Torres sealed it with a stoppage time tap in.Torres came on as a late sub after his injury lay-off and he added a gloss to the result with a breakway goal seconds before the full-time whistle.

Manchester city crash out of the fa cup in a shock result as they lose 0-3 to Nottingham Forest.Goals from Tyson Earnshaw and Garner did the damage.City suffered an FA Cup humbling as new Forest boss Billy Davies looked on.
Nathan Tyson volleyed Forest in front from 20 yards after a poor clearance by Micah Richards and Matt Thornhill set up an unmarked Robert Earnshaw to tap in the second .
Paul Smith superbly denied Felipe Caicedo twice and Elano but Joe Garner put the tie to bed after seizing on Michael Ball’s dreadful throw-in .

Arsenal v Plymouth Fa Cup Highlights

Arsenal run out comfortable winners in the end, 3-1 but Plymouth did make a fight of this.Paul Sturrock’s Pilgrims, languishing in the bottom half of the Championship table, defended superbly in the first half to keep Arsenal at bay and goalkeeper Romain Larrieu pulled off a number of fine saves.Two goals from captain Robin van Persie ensured a safe passage for Arsenal into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The Dutchman’s bullet header from a corner put the Gunners ahead and David Gray then turned van Persie’s cross into his own net .
But Plymouth hit back immediately when Karl Duguid volleyed in Gray’s free- kick , before van Persie scored from a rebound to settle the tie .

David Foley dumped Barclays Premier League Stoke out of the FA Cup after his superb strike at Victoria Park helped earn Hartlepool a 2-0 win.
With his side already leading through defender Michael Nelson’s powerful header four minutes after the break, the 21-year-old blasted a 25-yard shot past goalkeeper Steve Simonsen to condemn the top-flight strugglers to defeat in front of a delighted crowd of 5,367.
The Potters, who have slipped into the relegation zone on the back of three successive defeats, hit the post early on, but rarely looked like reversing their run of recent form as the League One outfit grew in confidence.
