Chelsea had to survive a late fightback from the Bolton boys before earning victory.Blues looked to be roasting The Trotters as they held a 4-0 lead in the 63rd-minute, only for Bolton to respond with three goals in the space of eight minutes to leave Chelsea buckling at the knees.
Michael Ballack opened the scoring for Chelsea with a brace for Didier Drogba and, a Frank Lampard penalty, looking to have clinched this match for Guus Hiddink’s side.
The Dutchman then decided to withdraw Lampard and Drogba which enabled Nicolas Anelka and Deco to join the fray but their intended Easter fun almost turned into a nightmare.Andy O’Brien reduced the arrears , sub Chris Basham got a second and Matt Taylor headed Bolton’s third to set up a scary finish.Chelsea held on
