Well the Sunday newspapers all agree and it seems that even Fernando Torres is adding claim to the stories but it seems that Liverpool could be about to lose their prize asset within the next 48 hours.

The World Cup winning striker signed for the club three and a half years ago and during his time at the club has shot into the fans favourite position alongside longstanding midfielder Steven Gerrard.

Although it seems that the club and it’s fans are smitten with the Spanish hit man, it seems that the love being shown to him just simply isn’t enough for him after Torres handed in a written transfer request to the club in order to force a sale to Premier League title holders Chelsea after renewed interest.

Chelsea have made no secret of the fact that they are interested in adding the prolific striker to their squad and during the summer made an official approach for the players services after seeing Torres score the winning goal in the World Cup final this summer, a move which was instantly rejected by the club.

Following his victory on the international stage, Torres spoke out to tell the club and fans that he is still as dedicated to the club as the first day that he signed for them, leading fans and officials to believe that he would become a long serving player and follow the footsteps of Gerrard and join the Liverpool legends listing.

Well as the papers report this weekend, it seems that the statements have changed this time around, the player telling captain Steven Gerrard that he feels that he has to leave the club in order to win trophies and with Chelsea hot on the deal at the moment, it seems that with the player telling team mates he wants to leave and telling the club that he would like to be considered for sale to the interested club, that the players days in Merseyside could well be limited.

Chelsea opened the weekend with a tabled bid of £35 million for the Spanish international but it was instantly rejected by the club with the message that the player is not for sale… A message that has been reported to have changed over the last 24 hours after the written request of the striker to be allowed to leave the club, leaving the club to tell Chelsea that they will have to meet their asking price for the striker if they are truly interested in his services, a price thought to be about to break the British transfer record, as much as £50 million.

Although all the Sunday papers are claiming that the club will look to cash in on the striker and look to recover their recently spent £23 million on their own transfer target, it is still uncertain as to what has been requested between the two parties, some papers saying that Chelsea will have to pay £50 million for the attacker and others saying that Liverpool are interested in a £40 million plus Nicolas Anelka deal.

One thing is for sure, tomorrow will be a day of extreme interest for Liverpool and Chelsea fans alike as the clubs have until 11pm Monday evening to complete any possible switch.
