Sergio Ponce opened the scoring at the Estadio Jalisco after 17 minutes, before a Ramon Morales penalty made it 2-0 four minutes later. Alberto Medina extended the lead and Marco Fabian De La Mora notched the team’s fourth in the 37th minute.

Everton roared back in the second half with goals just after the break from substitute Roberto Gutierrez and a penalty converted by Ezequiel Miralles.
But the home side put the result beyond all doubt with two late goals from Javier Hernandez in the 77th and 88th minutes.
Chivas dominated the Chilean visitors in the first period, with the movement of Medina, Carlos Ochoa and De La Mora too much for the Everton defense to handle.
