Sturridge signed on a four-year deal after his contract expired at Manchester City.
The fee for the promising 19-year-old striker, nephew of former Derby forward Dean, has not been disclosed but was settled by a tribunal.
The England U20 forward will now join up with the rest of the first-team squad when they return for the start of pre-season training next week.This move will be a good one for the x man city player who has allot to offer.
On a day that Carlo Ancelotti insists Didier Drogba will not be allowed to leave the club.
The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move to Inter Milan and a reunion with former Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho.
But Ancelotti told Italian Radio Deejay: “Now I have Drogba in my team and he will be staying. I will not sell him to Mourinho.”
