lampard-goal Lampard’s penalty put England ahead in the first half, before substitute Jermain Defoe continued his excellent form for club and country by doubling their lead after the break. Zlatan Ljubijankic scored a consolation for the visitors late on.

The Three Lions, who can book a place at the World Cup with three points in midweek, kept the ball nicely in the first half, but they were made to work by their slick opponents.

Wayne Rooney has assured Steven Gerrard he was fouled when earning England the controversial penalty which put them on the way to victory against Slovenia.

The forward has come in for heavy criticism from the Slovenia players for his part in the incident which saw Bostjan Cesar limp off with an injury.
Gerrard said: “I didn’t get a good angle of it because I played the pass, but Wayne said there was contact.

    Wow, Rooney is a huge twat. I don’t wish ill on anybody, but I’ll make an exception for him. If Eduardo deserves two, he deserves at least as many.
