Adams has spoken out to the media to show the fact that the tackle which he made during the sides 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur that saw Welsh international Gareth Bale have to leave the field with an ankle injury, was not intentional.

Redknapp said: “We are not sure whether he has done his ligament or something. They are checking up on him but it is quite swollen… It looked a bad challenge.”

Ian Holloway defended his player “He almost came here so why would he want to hurt anybody? He hasn’t got it in him. At this level, the game is so quick.”

The tackle that could well rule Bale out of action for Tottenham until the end of the season seemed to show the Blackpool playmaker going over the ball and making contact with the ankle of the highly rated Tottenham midfielder, leaving Bale on the ground in agony.

Adams told the media, “I never meant to go over the top [of the ball] because I am one of those players who want to see the best players in the country on the pitch and he’s one of them.”
