transfers Hull City have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Hunt for what his previous club Reading have described as “a sizeable fee”.

The 29-year-old returns to the Premier League four years after joining Reading on a free transfer from Brentford.

Reading director of football Nick Hammond said: “He was ready for a new challenge and this is a good move for all three parties.”

Also City boss Mark Hughes has not given up hope of signing Everton defender Joleon Lescott.

City have already had bids of £15m and £18m turned down for the unsettled 26-year-old England international.

Hughes said: “We are still trying to speak to the people who will ultimately make the decision over whether or not the deal continues. Those conversations are still to take place.”
