Kuwait v Australia Kuwait came fighting back from a two goals down to earn a draw against its joint top Group B rival Australia on Wednesday, in the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers.Australia got off to the perfect start with two goals inside the first five minutes .
The first came in the third minute as Australia exploited Kuwait’s weakness at set pieces. Left back Dean Heffernan’s long throw into the penalty area was won by Mile Jedinak, who headed the ball back for Luke Wilkshire to strike a tremendous rising half volley into the net.

Things got even better for Pim Verbeek’s men two minutes later when first goal provider Heffernan got on the scoresheet himself. Nick Carle was fouled wide on the right and the Crystal Palace midfielder took the free kick himself, causing consternation in the Kuwait defence which failed to deal with the dead ball. As it fell Heffernan reacted first, rifling past Alkhaldi Nawaf in the home goal.

Hamed’s introduction injected pace that stretched the Australian defence and allowed playmaker Bader Al Mutwa to dictate play. An error by Simon Colosimo in the 40th minute led to Kuwait’s first.

Bader’s vision and technique then set up Yusuf Nasser in the 43rd minute, who shot low and hard past Eugene Galekovic to draw Kuwait level.
