kyrgiakos Well he is tall! and a greek international he joined Rangers on loan during season 2004-05 with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season. With his new club he won a second consecutive championship and also the Scottish League Cup scoring two goals in the 5-1 win against Motherwell in the final.

He initially failed to agree terms with Rangers and held talks with Everton, Portsmouth and Schalke before finally agreeing a one year deal with Rangers , he scored a famous winning goal against FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League that year. He was released in May 2006 after the contract ran out .He then went to Frankfurt for a few years then back home to AEK Athens.Liverpool are thought to have bid £1.5m for the 30-year-old former Rangers player and Kyrgiakos has confirmed that contact has been made.

“I would like to inform the fans of AEK that on Monday night I received an offer from Liverpool, an offer which I have accepted,” he said on his personal website.
