Leeds will spend another season in League One despite dominating their play-off semi-final second leg.
One down from the first leg, the hosts pressed forward and Jermaine Beckford had a tame penalty saved before Luciano Becchio slid home the opener (53).

But, against the run of play, the Lions broke Elland Road hearts as James Henry pulled back for Nadjim Abdou and he stabbed the ball through a crowd (74).

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett put his side’s League One play-off semi-final win over Leeds down to “honesty, commitment and a bit of quality”.

Nadjim Abdou silenced a full house at Elland Road as the second leg ended 1-1 on the night, clinching Millwall a 2-1 aggregate win and a date at Wembley.

Jackett said: “To overcome Leeds, who are a very good team, over two legs is a very good achievement.”

Simon Grayson was proud of his Leeds players despite their failure to reach a third play-off final in four years.

United were held to a 1-1 draw by Millwall in front of a 37,000-strong crowd, and the 2-1 aggregate condemned them to another season in League One.
Grayson said: “We’re disappointed. It was a great atmosphere and the fans deserve to go up, but the players can be proud of what they’ve achieved.”
