Liverpool Beachball owner set to net a fortune

A unlucky yet lucky liverpool fan is set to net a fortune by selling the beachball that helped his team lose this weekend.
Wayne Bate was heartbroken whenhis inflatable deflected the real ball into the net and sent his team crashing to a 1-0 loss at Sunderland.
A pitchside steward gave back the now famous inflatable ball from the pitch handed it to the dad-of-two in a bid to cheer up his up set son.
And last night the pair were laughing all the way to the bank as rival fans tried so hard to track it down on the internet.
Wayne, from Thirsk, North Yorks, did not realise the value of the ball until the news shot around the world and now its a global story.
He said: “I felt like popping it with a pin but I’m glad I didn’t. It’s a real piece of history.
“I suddenly realised that I was sitting on a fortune.”
His wife is a Sunderland fan and wants to keep it but Wayne is “open to offers’’.
