Lyon 1 Liverpool 1

Lyon stun Liverpool with a last-minute equaliser in Champions League Group E after Ryan Babel scored a late screamer to put the Reds well on their way to a famous victory.

Lisandro Lopez’s  very late goal cancelled out Ryan Babel’s wonderstrike as Liverpool’s hopes of Champions League qualification looks to be over.
The Holland winger, on for Andriy Voronin, came inside his man and rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards seven minutes from time.A real goal to remember from the dutchman and it looked as if liverpool had pulled off yet another much needed win.

But Lopez stole in at the end after the Reds failed to clear the ball.Agger was caught flat-footed and, inexplicably, Kyrgiakos went to ground on the edge of the box as he tried to clear. The loose ball then spun up to both Lisandro and Cris, before clipping it over the onrushing Reina.

This leaves the visitors asking why on a night they played very well and had many chances could not put the game to bed.A huge ask now for liverpool to qualify for the last 16 but in football you never know

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez believes the team will continue to work hard and hopefully make it through to the next stage.

Unirea Urziceni 1 Rangers 1

Rangers like liverpool were denied a vital Champions League victory as a late thunderbolt earned Unirea Urziceni a point.

Lee McCulloch’s 20-yard drive looked to have won it for rangers before Marius Onofras lashed in an unstoppable shot from 25 yards to level .

Allan McGregor’s superb one-handed save stopped Sorin Frunza’s deflected shot while Kenny Miller shot weakly at the home keeper after finding space.
Two games to play Rangers are bottom of Group G, three points behind the Romanian side in second. Sevilla have already qualified.Unlucky for rangers on the night who go away with just the point but a good performance for them.

Rangers Manager Walter Smith felt there were enough opportunities to have won the game. See video
