Leeds had full control of this one, taking the lead midway through the first half with a powerful low shot from Sam Jones. The Whites doubled their lead six minutes after the break capitalising on a goal created by route one tactics, a long punt down the field from the Leeds keeper was flicked on up to the forwards, where Michael Whitwell was on hand to fire past Liverpool keeper Chamberlain.
slack Reds’ defending was punished two minutes later, Michael Whitwell showing composure and accuracy to neatly create and slot away the killer third for Leeds, before Liverpool gave the scorecard a slightly better look of respectability as Jack Robinson nodded in a late consolation
