Romario makes a last comeback

brazil legend The legendary striker Romario came out of retirement for a one-off special on Wednesday night, to fulfill the wish of his father eho passed away last year. The 43-year-old forward, who ended his career last year after 23 years, plans to fulfill his late father’s dream by playing a match with America, a second-division club in Rio de Janeiro.

Romario, who became America’s sporting director this year, came on as a substitute in the second half of America’s 2-0 win over Artsul before joining in with the team’s celebrations as they lifted the Rio de Janeiro state second division title.

The former Barcelona striker was unable to improve on his career goals tally, which he has claimed to be over 1000, but he did a lap of honour with the trophy.
