Spurs were keen to sign him but his wage demands was over the top for them.

Nistelrooy has joined Hamburg on a one-and-a-half-year contract from Real Madrid, the German club have announced on their website.
Nistelrooy joined Real Madrid in 2006 for an undisclosed fee, which is believed to be around twelve million pounds. In his first season at the Madrid club, van Nistelrooy once again showed he was worth the transfer fee, becoming the top goal scorer in La Liga in his first season, with a whopping twenty five goals in the league alone. In his second season, van Nistelrooy scored a further twenty goals for the club.

The Dutchman is hoping he can impress enough for Hamburg to earn a place at this summer’s World Cup and its a big boost from the club, shame really would have been great to have him back in the premiership.
