Barry’s controversial late penalty gave 10-man Aston Villa a 2-1 win against Sunderland on Saturday to consolidate their position in the Premier League’s top four.Martin O’Neill’s side rode their luck at the Stadium of Light after falling behind to an early goal from Danny Collins
Danny Collins rose highest to head in a free-kick for Sunderland , but James Milner levelled when Ashley Young’s cross hit him as he stumbled in front of goal and went in .
Young was sent off for a two-footed lunge before Paul McShane was penalised for a foul which appeared to be outside the area and Barry blasted in .
The victory extended Villa’s unbeaten run to 10 matches but Sunderland will feel disappointed not to get a point from the match
