Romario makes a last comeback

The legendary striker Romario came out of retirement for a one-off special on Wednesday night, to fulfill the wish of his father eho passed away last year. The 43-year-old forward, who ended his career last year after 23 years, plans to fulfill his late father’s dream by playing a match with America, a second-division club in Rio de Janeiro.

Romario, who became America’s sporting director this year, came on as a substitute in the second half of America’s 2-0 win over Artsul before joining in with the team’s celebrations as they lifted the Rio de Janeiro state second division title.

The former Barcelona striker was unable to improve on his career goals tally, which he has claimed to be over 1000, but he did a lap of honour with the trophy.

Romario arrested in child support Drama

Naughty Brazil Legend Romario was arrested in a child support case involving his first wife, police said on Tuesday. Police spokesman Analder Lopes said Romario was taken into custody for allegedly failing to make child support payments to Monica Santoro, who has custody of the couple’s children, Romarinho and Moniquinha.
Lopes said he did not know how much Romario owed his ex-wife and added that the player’s lawyers promised to present documents proving he had made the payments. He did not provide further information.
In 2004, Romario, one of Brazil’s 1994 World Cup champions, was detained for the same reason, but was released in a few hours after proving he had paid his wife.
