Spurs got a good home win against Wigan tonight final score 3-1.They advance into the fourth round of the FA Cup,two goals came from Pavlyuchenko and one from Modric did the damage.Wigan had looked the better side in the opening period and will count themselves unlucky to have gone out. Their midfield was full of passion and speed on the counter-attack as Spurs tried to unlock their defence through excellent Croatian Modric who had a great game. Tottenham, without a win in their previous five games, had struggled through the first half against a Wigan side that had won five of their previous six matches.
However, Russia striker Pavlyuchenko’s 52nd minute penalty changed the game and the eight times FA Cup winners deserved their place in Sunday’s fourth round draw.Spurs livened up after the goal with Pavlyuchenko looking dangerous and Campbell forcing Kingson into a good save with a powerful header.
Modric then showed quick reactions when, face down on the ground after slipping, he headed in the rebound after Jamie O’Hara’s shot came back off a post following an excellent build-up in the 76th minute.
Wigan kept pressing and pulled a goal back three minutes from time when Camara seized on a loose ball to score from close range.
Pavlyuchenko, though, had the last word when he cut inside to fire home Tottenham’s third in stoppage time.
