10:35- Sources at Villa Park suggest Martin O’Neill is on the verge of bringing in a new striker, with all the signs pointing to either West Ham United’s Dean Ashton or Reading’s Kevin Doyle being the new man.

Rumour has it O’Neill is prepared to splash the cash too – £8 million for Doyle or £15 million for Ashton. That’s a lot of money.

10:20- Hull City are in the market for a striker, it seems.

The latest rumours suggest they are awaiting the green light to complete a permanent deal for Manchester United’s Frazier Campbell, provided Dimitar Berbatov signs on at Old Trafford today.

The Humberside club have also lodged a bid for Fulham forward Seol Ki-Hyeon and Rangers striker Daniel Cousin, but both the Cottagers and the Gers are reluctant to sell their respective assets.

09:45- Spurs continue to make the headlines today, having now completed the signing of defender Vedran Corluka from Manchester City.

It seems Mark Hughes didn’t want to lose the player, but the Croatian handing in a transfer request facilitated the move. Juande Ramos adds to his defensive options, and about time too.

08:25- Despite the Pavlyuchenko news there are still no developments on the Dimitar Berbatov front. Could Spurs be stuck with the sulky Bulgarian until January?
