Transfer Deadline Day Top Conclusions

The transfer window is always a busy time for professional football clubs and this winter’s window was no different, seeing a number of big name stars switching clubs in the hunt for success.

Although the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea were firmly at work within the last few days and hours of this transfer window, which closed at 11pm last night, there was a noticeable absence of a couple of the other big names within the English game, Arsenal and Manchester United being the most noticeable.

The biggest captures that happened in this winter’s transfer window before it slammed shut, were completed within the dying hours of the deadline, leaving fans, players and clubs sweating over the time constraints that they had in their way.

But the time constraint didn’t take any casualties this time around after there were no reports of deals breaking down due to the deadline passing, so it seems that those who wanted players either got their men or they were rejected on their approach.

So lets have a looks at a couple of the transfers that happened within the transfer window:

Player Club From Club To Price (estimated)
Fernando Torres Liverpool Chelsea £50,000,000
Andy Carroll Newcastle United Liverpool £35,000,000
Luis Suarez Ajax Liverpool £23,000,000
David Luiz Benfica Chelsea £21,300,000
Edin Dzeko Wolfsburg Manchester City Undisclosed
Anders Lindegaard Aalesund FK Manchester United Undisclosed
Darren Bent Sunderland Aston Villa Undisclosed

A close look at all of the transfer listed within the table above seem to be good for all of the receiving clubs, strengthening their sides while capturing players that are key to their improvement.

The question is, with so much money spent, which of the above will be the first to be considered a flop?
