Transfer Sagas Summer 2010: More twists and turns than an episode of Eastenders

August 21, 2010 | Filed Under: Blog, UK Box Update

Rumours and gossip have really hit home in this summmers transfer window but what are the ones that have confused us all we list our top contenders here.

Cesc Fabregas

Despite constant media murmurings and the persistence of his Spanish pals, Fabregas shockingly remains an Arsenal player. The simple fact is that a Jose Reina shirt gag won’t bring a transfer fee down, no matter how hilarious it is. If Barca come knocking again (which is about as inevitable as 10 minutes of injury time at Old Trafford) they will need to bring out the gold plated chequebook. Despite Fabregas himself admitting numerous times that he wants to go back home, it has done nothing to budge Arsenal’s steadfast resolve to keep him. You have to feel for Fabregas though, how will he manage in London with his measly £100,000 a week…

Javier Mashcerano

His no nonsense “bulldog” like approach has made him a fan favourite at Anfield. But with Danish hardman Christian Poulsen arriving in Merseyside, it seemed it would only be a matter of time before Javier would be waving his farewells and reuniting with Rafa the Gaffer in Italy. But similar to the Fabregas saga, Liverpool will only sell at the right price and Benitez’s Inter are not matching Liverpool’s £25 million price tag. Theres a fact for you Rafa. This Argy/Spanish reunion will have to be put on ice for now, but watch this space in January.

Ashley Cole

Things look like they are going from bad to worse for one of England’s favourite hate figures. The adulterous left-back sparked fury amongst England fans with the revelation that he “hates England and all the people in it”. Well guess what Ash, we hate you too! With Real Madrid interested, will Jose “the Special One” Mourinho come and save Cole from his England hell (and save US from his lecherous ways)? I think I smell a tapping up scandal brewing…

Hatem Ben Arfa

Bad boy Ben Arfa has refused to train at current club Marseille in order to force through a transfer with manager Didier Deschamps saying “he has dropped all his coaches in the ****”. Newcastle lead the queue with a host of European clubs also after the young Frenchman’s signature. To be honest, I was getting bored with just booing El Hadji Diouf, so I for one would welcome Hatem into the Premier League!

James Milner

England’s most improved footballer, James Milner, finally sealed a move to Manchester City this week. Things took longer than expected with City wanting to offload Stephen Ireland in the process to fit in with the new 25 man squad rule. And all the while our boy James was left in the lurch; the lad was desperate to leave Villa to “win things”. Perhaps his old mate Gareth told him how much he was earning – that would have probably made anybody desperate to leave for Eastlands too!

What do you think the future holds for Cesc Fabregas, Javier Mascherano, Ashley Cole and Hatem Ben Arfa?

Lets just hope they get sorted out quicker than James Milner’s move to Manchester City – nobody deserves to be put through that again…
