United cancel match as they sign Diouf

transfers Manchester United have cancelled their match against an Indonesia Super League XI  in Jakarta following two bomb blasts .

One of the hotels affected, the Ritz-Carlton, was the hotel United were supposed to be staying on Saturday.

A club statement said: “We are working on a revised itinerary and we will make a further announcement when these decisions have been made.”

Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken of his shock at the bomb blasts in Jakarta that forced Manchester United to cancel a friendly match in Indonesia.

One of the attacks was on the Ritz-Carlton, where United had been due to stay for four nights from Saturday.

The United boss said: “It is terrible news but we have taken what I believe to be the right decision in terms of safeguarding our players.”

Meanwhile todayalso united sign promising striker Mame Biram Diouf from Norwegian club Molde.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: “We’ve been looking at him for two years. Other clubs started to make bids so we decided to act.”

Ronaldo has also passed his best wishes onto Owen who takes his number 7 shirt for next season

Ronaldo said: “United did well to give him the No 7. He is a great player, an English player. He has everything to win there. He is at a fantastic club.”
