Video: David De Gea to replace Edwin van der Sar
Manchester United has been told that they can have their targeted replacement for Edwin Van Der Sar but they are going to have to give around £17m in order to get Atletico Madrid to allow them to speak to David de Gea.
Nicknamed Van der Gea by his team-mates at Atletico Madrid, 19-year-old David De Gea is fast becoming one of the greatest goalkeeping prospects in Europe.
So what do we know about the young lad? Well he has been at Atletico Madrid since the age of 10, he was first exposed to the world in 2007, playing for the Spanish Under-17 national team in the World Cup and helped them reach the final. His impressive reflexes and penalty saves made him the best goalkeeper in the tournament
In May 2010, because of solid performances for Atletico he was named by Vicente del Bosque in the provisional 30-man squad for the spains world cup squad.
The young goalkeeper has impressed scouts for Manchester United and they have alerted manager Sir Alex Ferguson about the potential that they see within the player.
With first choice keeper Van Der Sar almost reaching the 40 mark, Ferguson will be forced to seek new talent to fill the Dutch keepers shoes and the club feel that they would have a great shot with de Gae should they be successful in their approach
De Gea is set for a truly bright future but will it be at united?
