Cristiano Ronaldo hit the woodwork for Manchester United in a goalless draw in spain which saw one red card for Villarreal and plenty of action but no goals.Manchester United and Villarreal secured their places in the last 16 of the Champions League with a drab 0-0 draw in Group E at El Madrigal.
The sides knew a draw would be enough to put them both through, regardless of Celtic’s result at Aalborg, and no other result ever looked likely in a game lacking much incident.
Cristiano Ronaldo went closest for United on a couple of occassions in the first half and Joan Capdevila was sent off late on for a second bookable offence, but there was little else to talk about as the sides drew 0-0 for the fourth time in succession
