Leicester City are the biggest surprise of the 15/16 season and many didn’t even dream they could win the league. Let’s have a look at their chances for 16/17.

Leicester City shook the footballing world in the 2015/16 season. Sure, the season isn’t over yet, but Leicester are on top by a somewhat comfortable margin and are now title favorites. Who would’ve thought, eh? Not even some of the most optimistic fans of the Foxes could’ve imagined such a scenario. Not to mention the fact that the odds for Leicester winning the title prior to the beginning of the season were set at 5,000. Sounds like there’s more chances of hitting the jackpot on online progressive slots. Speaking of slots, online casinos and jackpots, check them out here.

One of the greatest surprises in recent history

One fan of Leicester didn’t think their chances were that far off and despite the odds being stacked against his favorite team, he decided to wager £50 on Leicester. He was probably being laughed at, but he had the last laugh. Or did he?! The punter chose to cash out early on a bet he could win and ultimately earn £250,000. Just before Leicester’s away game at Watford, the pundit cashed out and received an amount of £72,335. Still not bad, although the bookies admitted that had he waited for the game at Watford to be over he would’ve received at least £20,000. But now, the prospects of Leicester winning the title are much more realistic. The fan said saw no point in being greedy and that more than £70,000 is still a pretty large sum and that he still hoped that Leicester would win.

A different perspective for 2016/17

This is a very exciting season for bookies and players, mostly thanks to Clauidio Ranieri’s boys – Vardy, Mahrez, Kante and the rest of them. Can Leicester repeat the success of this season?! Will if they win the title this year, the next season would be a lot different for them. They won’t be starting as the underdogs, but rather as the current champions. That changes a lot of things and puts the whole team into a different perspective. Surely, they would have a much greater level of self-confidence as a team. However, all managers would be spending a lot more time on analyzing Leicester and the way they play and would pay much more attention to the games against the current champion.

Can they “survive” the transfer window?

Moreover, Leicester would be competing in the Champions League next season and that would put additional pressure on the players as they would have play a lot more difficult games and some doubt whether they have the squad depth for that. More importantly, the summer transfer window is ahead of us. Leicester is a relatively smaller club with a financial capacity that can’t match that of Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal, not to mention Real Madrid and Barcelona. Would both the club and the players be able to resist the temptation? Because we’re talking about a lot of money here? There are already rumours and many clubs are targeting Leicester’s players, especially Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy.

You can bet on Vardy using the various betting apps found here.

It’s a fair chance

Even though this season isn’t over yet, some of the bookies already offer odds for the next season winner. Interestingly, despite a rather disappointing season the odds for Chelsea are 4/1, with them coming second behind City and their 6/4 odds. With Pep Guardiola on his way, that can be expected. The odds for Leicester so far are 40/1 and 33/1 with different bookies. Bear in mind that these odds might go lower in the very likely event that they do win the English Premier League. 40 is not 5,000, but still, betting £100 would win you £4,000 which is a serious amount of money, bearing in mind that Leicester have proven that they are capable of competing with Premier League’s giants. It may not be the most lucrative bet, but it’s a fair one, it could prove to be a risk worth taking.
